Rowan Atkinson is reportedly set to reprise one of his most iconic roles for the first time in six years.

The actor, 69, will star in a fourth Johnn English film, with filming set to comment this summer, according to Screen Daily.

Rowan was last seen as the titular spy in the third Johnny English film in 2018, alongside Ben Miller and Emma Thompson.

It’s thought that this film will be produced by Working Title Films, an off-shoot of Universal Pictures. 

The series is a comedy spoof of James Bond and Rowan plays the eponymous, Mr. Bean-like English spy.

The star has previously said that a fourth film was unlikely to happen. 

During a Reddit Ask Me Anything session, Rowan admitted: ‘I doubt it but thank you very much for implying you’d like to see another one.

However, Rowan, who appeared in the 2023 film Wonka, then added: ‘But at the same time… never say never.’

Ever since this moment, die-hard fans have been hoping Rowan would be making a return to the famous role.

The reports of Johnny English 4 are further fuelled by the fact Rowan was seen clutching important-looking papers in November.

Rowan hinted he was working on a new film a she took the documents with him to his production office. 

The comedian is currently in a relationship with Louise Ford, 42, whom he co-starred with in a 2012 play, and the two share a child together.

Rowan has a further two children with only wife Sunetra Sastry, whom he was married to for 25 years until 2015.
