Predictions, Rumors, Leaks, Release Date And More

We’re nearing the end of April already and summer is fast-approaching. This means that another batch of PlayStation Plus games are on the horizon, though we still have a bit of a wait to find out what they’re going to be.

This month’s lineup wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t the best, either. Sony gave PS Plus Essential subscribers Immortals Of Aveum, Minecraft Legends and Skul The Hero Slayer, which was by far the highlight of the month in my humble opinion.

Read on for more information on next month’s PS Plus lineup.

What Is PlayStation Plus And How Much Does It Cost?

PS Plus is Sony’s monthly membership program that grants access to online gaming. You don’t need it for streaming movies or TV shows on Netflix and other services, or for free-to-play games like Warzone or Fortnite. Any paid online games, however, require a subscription.

There are three PS Plus tiers—Essential, Extra and Premium—though for the purposes of this post we’re only discussing the Essential tier’s free monthly games. Following a big price-hike, these tiers cost: PS Plus Essential — $79.99/year; PS Plus Extra — $134.99/year; PS Plus Premium — $159.99/year.

When Will Sony Reveal Next Month’s PS Plus Games?

Sony reveals the following month’s games on the last Wednesday of the month, though this isn’t always the case. The actual rule of thumb is that the new lineup always releases on the first Tuesday of the month and the games are revealed the previous Wednesday.

This means that we won’t actually get an official reveal until Wednesday, May 1st. May’s free PS Plus lineup will then come out on Tuesday, May 7th. Subscribers will have until then to download this month’s free games.

PS Plus May Leaks, Rumors And Predictions

So far, there have been no leaks or rumors or confirmations of any of May’s PS Plus games. The only title I know of releasing on PlayStation on May 7th is Prison Architect 2, which is a possible contender for a day-one PS Plus release. The game is available on the PlayStation Store to pre-order, however, so this seems unlikely.

I’ll update this post if/when any leaks or rumors do drop, but for now we’ll have to stick with my prediction / wishful thinking list (some of these are not good games, but since Sony often gives out poorly-received titles this makes them likely contenders).

  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
  • Need For Speed Unbound
  • The Outer Worlds
  • Forspoken
  • Demon’s Souls
  • The Order 1886
  • The Last Of Us Part 1
