POLL OF THE DAY: As Prince Harry returns to the UK, should he step up to support his father?

On Sunday evening it was confirmed that Prince Harry will be returning to the UK next month for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.

The Duke of Sussex has only been in Britain on a handful of occasions ever since he left for California alongside his wife, Meghan, and son, Archie, in 2020.

His spokesperson has confirmed that the prince would attend a service at St Paul’s Cathedral in London on May 8 to celebrate the Invictus Games, the international sporting event that he founded for military personnel wounded in action.

No mention was made of whether Meghan will join him in the UK, but it was confirmed she would be by his side in Nigeria afterwards.

His children, Archie and Lilibet are not expected to attend, with the spokesperson not making any mention of them.

Other senior members of the Royal family are not expected to attend.

Neither the Office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex nor Buckingham Palace confirmed any plans for Prince Harry to meet his father, although both have made clear their willingness to spend time together should their diaries permit.

Harry was last seen in Britain in February when he flew in for a brief meeting with his father after the King announced that he had been diagnosed with cancer.

The palace said on Friday that King Charles would return to public duties after he made good progress following treatment and a period of recuperation.

Last month it was also revealed that Harry’s sister-in-law, Princess Kate, had also been diagnosed with cancer and would take a step back from royal engagements to focus on her treatment.

That in turn meant that Prince William also scaled back his engagements, in order to help his wife and kids.

With that in mind, now that Prince Harry is returning to the UK for the Invictus Games, should he step up to support his father? Have your say.
