A pharmacist has shared three big warning signs of cancer that you might notice when you wake up in the morning.

Abbas Kanani, who works at Chemist Click, says feeling very tired, having a cough that won’t stop and sweating lots at night could be early warnings of cancer. If your cough has been hanging around for more than two weeks, it’s time to see a doctor. Feeling super tired when you get up can also be a sign something’s not right, especially if you’re not usually like that or you feel tired all day.

Mr Kanani said: “It’s normal to feel a little tired in the morning, but if this is not usual for you, or you are noticing fatigue lasting throughout the day, you should get this checked out.” Another thing to look out for is if you sweat so much during the night that your bed gets wet, even if you don’t realise it’s happening. Mr Kanani said: “Get this checked out with your GP, especially if night sweats are accompanied by fatigue, weight loss or bruising.”

The NHS says there are other signs of cancer that can show up any time of the day. Cancer Research UK also says that by changing some habits, like not smoking or drinking less, you can really lower your chances of getting cancer, reports Wales Online.

The UK’s top cancer charity has warned on its website that quitting smoking is the “biggest preventable cause of cancer in the UK, and worldwide”. They’ve made it clear that there’s a strong link between smoking and cancer. “It causes at least 15 different types of cancer,” they said, including common ones like lung and bowel cancer.

Cancer Research also emphasised that no amount of smoking is safe. They suggested that reducing your alcohol intake could help lower your risk of cancer too. They stated: “Alcohol causes seven types of cancer, including breast, mouth and bowel cancer. Whatever your drinking habits, cutting down will reduce your risk.”
