Marks & Spencer urgently pulls pies from shelves with risk of vomiting and breathing difficulties

Marks & Spencer has warned shoppers that food sold in stores may be unsafe to eat.

Anyone who has purchased the affected mushroom pie can return it to stores for a full refund.

This could be extremely dangerous for anyone with an allergy and can cause symptoms including vomiting, stomach cramps and difficulty breathing.

The supermarket stated: “Customer safety is of paramount importance to Marks & Spencer and we take all issues regarding the products of our foods extremely seriously.

“Marks & Spencer is recalling its Plant Kitchen Mushroom Pie given the undeclared presence of soya in packs. Please do not consume this product if you have an allergy or intolerance to soya. If you wish to exchange the product, you can return it to your nearest store where a full refund will be given.

“Only the displayed date codes are impacted. No other M&S products are affected. We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused. For more information contact us on 0333 0148 555.”

Food recalls are issued when a problem is found with a food item that could cause a health or safety risk to consumers.

Marks & Spencer has an ongoing recall for Magnum packs sold in stores that could contain metal.

The retailer stated: “Magnum is recalling Magnum Classic Ice Cream Sticks (3 x 100ml).

“Magnum is taking the precautionary measure of recalling a limited number of Magnum Classic Ice Cream Sticks 3x100ml due to internal safety checks showing that they may contain small pieces of metal.
