David Beckham thanks ‘amazing’ wife Victoria while Amanda Holden shares sweet snaps with lookalike daughters and Holly Willoughby praises mum as ‘inspiration and guiding star’ as they lead stars celebrating Mother’s Day

David Beckham, Amanda Holden, and Holly Willoughby led the stars in celebrating Mother’s Day on Sunday, with loving posts toasting to motherhood.

David, 48, praised his wife Victoria as well as his mum Sandra and mother-in-law Jackie, as he shared a slew of sweet throwback snaps.

One showed Victoria playfully biting their son Brooklyn’s toes as she fed him, while another saw her lying in bed with all three of their boys, Brooklyn, 25, Romeo, 21, and Cruz, 19.

Another sweet shot saw the fashion designer, 49, twirling their daughter Harper, 12, while David also posted a picture of Sandra and Jackie smiling together.

Captioning the photos, he gushed: ‘So lucky to have the most amazing Mummy’s in our life’s… Thank you for everything you do and the love you give to the whole family x We love u so much ❤️ @victoriabeckham @sandra_beckham49 @jackie.adams_ HAPPY MOTHERS DAY.’

Victoria shared David’s post and gushed: ‘Love you so much!!’ before adding her own tribute to her mum and Sandra, writing: ‘Happy Mother’s Day to the best two mummy’s!!!! [sic] I love you both so much!!!!’

On her grid she posted a slew of family snaps, with David and their four children all together in black tie evening outfits.

Captioning them the Spice Girl wrote: ‘Happy UK Mother’s Day to all the mother figures out there!! I love you all so much xx @DavidBeckham @BrooklynPeltzBeckham @RomeoBeckham @CruzBeckham #HarperSeven x’.

Romeo shouted at his mum in return, sharing a sweet photo of the pair of them, simply captioned: ‘Happy Mother’s Day mum love you so much’. 

Amanda, 53, posted several glamorous shots of her with her two lookalike daughters, Lexi, 18, and Hollie, 12, calling being a mum ‘the greatest privilege’.

She also praised her own mother, Judith, and shared a tribute to her late son Theo, who tragically stillborn at seven months in 2011, acknowledging the sadness of the day for many as well.

Captioning the photos, she wrote: ‘To be a Mama is the greatest privilege of my life. To still have my mummy is wonderful.

‘I know today can be difficult for so many. Behind every family there is always a story of love and loss …

‘Today I will make the most of all of it and hopefully get breakfast in bed’.

While Holly, 43, shared a stunning selfie with her mum Linda to her own grid and wrote that she was her inspiration.

She penned: ‘You’re not just my mum, you’re my inspiration and guiding star. Thank you for your love and guidance… Happy Mother’s Day mamma… Shine bright #motherday’.

Mollie King took to her Instagram Stories to share a montage of photos of her mum, gushing that she was her ‘best friend’.

She wrote: ‘Happy Mother’s Day, mum! You’re my absolute best friend and biggest role model, thank you for being the amazing mum and gran that you are’.

The radio presenter also shared a picture of her opening a Mother’s Day card with her one-year-old daughter Annabella.

Mollie sweetly added: ‘To hold you on my lap on Mother’s Day morning is everything I could ask for, Annabella’. 

Emily Atack, who is currently pregnant with her first child and due next month, also shared a tribute to her mum and people struggling on Mother’s Day.

She shared a childhood snap with her siblings and mother, and wrote: ‘Happy Mother’s Day to our mum Kate. 

‘Also sending love to anyone who is missing somebody today, and might be finding today quite difficult. I really hope you have a lovely day anyway ❤️’

She also poked fun at her mismatched childhood clothes, writing: ‘Now.. can we talk about my outfit?’

Emily also posted a photo of her mother and actress Kate Robbins cradling her as a newborn baby. 

Sam Faiers also posted a glimpse into her Mother’s Day morning, as she cuddled up to her three children – Paul, seven, Rosie, five, and Edward, one – in bed.

In front of the reality star was a tray laden with flowers and photos and a sweet handwritten letter, as she captioned the snap: ‘My whole world’. 

Pregnant Rhian Sugden shared an emotional post, as she showed off her baby bump, reflecting on her journey to getting pregnant and finally becoming a mother.

The model admitted that she has struggled with Mother’s Day for years due to her fertility issues, meaning the holiday was very triggering and caused her ‘upset’.

But after falling pregnant with her first child last year, Rhian gushed that her ‘life finally feels complete’.

She wrote: ‘What a difference a year can make. For the past 6 years I dreaded Mother’s Day as the cruel reality sunk in more and more that IVF wasn’t working for me. 

‘My dream to be a mum dwindled. I’d get so upset seeing beautiful families being posted, breakfast in bed for mums, everything was a trigger! All the wonderful stuff that should be celebrated used to get me so down.

‘My life finally feels complete. I honestly never thought I’d know what it would be like to carry a life. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. (Until I’m stuck on the floor or in the bath needing a hoist).

’12 months later and 8 rounds of IVF deep… a miracle happened and my little boy is breakdancing in my belly. Happy 1st Mother’s Day TO ME!!’

Helen Skelton, 40, shared a hilarious post with a slew of photos with each of her three children climbing on top of her.

The presenter shares sons Ernie, nine, Louis, six, and two-year-old daughter Elsie with ex Richie Myler.

Taking to her Instagram, Helen posted selfies of her kids sleeping on her, wrapping their legs around her head and even squeezing inside her jumper.

Captioning the playful snaps, she quipped: ‘Portraits of motherhood recently…. Personal space is overrated.’ 

Meanwhile, Myleene Klass, 45, shouted out her mum on her Instagram Stories with a beaming selfie of the mother and daughter.

She wrote: ‘Happy Mother’s day Lola. We love you x’. 

Molly-Mae Hague showed off her lavish Mother’s Day celebrations, with fiancé Tommy Fury pulling out all the stops.

The Love Island star shared a photo of a huge pink ‘M’, a pile of presents and a bouquet of flowers.

She snapped a shot of a handmade card, adorned with her one-year-old daughter Bambi’s handprints, that read: ‘Hands up, who has the BEST Mummy?’ 

Katie Piper also shared a tribute to her mum, with a string of adorable throwback photos from when she was a child.

In the caption she gushed: ‘You made me the woman I am today, Happy Mother’s Day’.

The Loose Women star also shared a heartwarming quote about the hardships and importance of motherhood, saying: ‘Oh mama’.

She added: ‘She made me the woman I’ve become and I’m so grateful for her. Happy Mother’s Day Mum.

‘It’s wild to look back on these and also see my own daughters in myself.’

Elsewhere, Carol Vorderman took the opportunity to remember her late mother, Edwina ‘Jean’ Davies, who passed away in 2017 from cancer.

The TV personality, 63, shared several throwback photos together and reflected on how close her and her mother were after growing up poor.

Carol explained how her mum was the one that man launched her career on Countdown by forging her signature, to sign Carol up for the show behind her back.

She added that Jean had helped raise Carol’s own kids and that she continues to live on through them.

Carol penned: Happy Mother’s Day ❤️❤️❤️ Some pics with my lovely Mum who died in 2017 surrounded by her family. The first photo is from Mother’s Day 2017 just a week after she’d been diagnosed with terminal cancer. She died 2 months later.

‘Mum and I were very close. She had to bring us up by herself in poverty and I was always her baby. My brother Anton and sister Trixie were older than me.

‘When she remarried my “Dad” she separated from him a few times and would ran away (with me) a number of times, including once to Billy Smarts Circus when I was 9!!!

‘Mum and I came as a team. When she left by “Dad” for good when I was 20, we were effectively homeless (I was in a BandB and she had a room in a house with students), so we moved north to Leeds where between us we could afford to live, and buy a little house in 1982 in Headingley.

‘Three weeks later she saw an article about a new TV show being made In Leeds called Countdown and it was go out on a new TV channel called Channel 4….and they needed someone to answer the numbers game! She wrote to the producer as if she was me and then FORGED MY SIGNATURE!!!!  And that’s how I started on telly.’

She continued: ‘Mum always lived with me through my adult life…through my marriage and through everything, either next door or in our house. 

‘So she helped to bring up my children. I employed her from when I was 25 years old to run my office. She was my everyday until she wasn’t.

‘But even now it’s like she’s still there as she lives on in my children too. Happy Mother’s Day Mum xx’.

Malin Andersson also reflected on the loss of her mother on the holiday, while also voicing the difficulty of Mother’s Day for her, after losing both mother and her daughter Consy in quick succession.

The former Love Island star, 31, lost her baby daughter Consy in January 2019 when she died a month after she was born, soon after Malin’s mother Consy-Gloria died following a battle with cancer.

Malin – who also lost her father to cancer – welcomed another daughter, Xaya, in January 2022 but split from the baby’s father Jared soon after she arrived.

She shared several photos, including several of Xaya, two, a throwback snap with her mum and picture of Consy’s’ funeral booklet.

Malin explained how Mother’s Day is ‘bittersweet’ for her as it ‘highlights my grief’ and criticised the commercial holiday, saying every day should be a celebration of motherhood.

In the lengthy accompanying caption, she wrote: ‘I don’t believe in Mother’s Day.. I’ll be honest.

‘It’s a very bittersweet feeling of eternal love and loss. I see it as a day for highlighting my grief. Yet we must celebrate it with chocolates gifts and cards, and for those that don’t.. where do we fit in?

‘I became a mother for the first time when my mother died 6 months prior. I then felt like I had the title of ‘mum’ taken from me too a year after that. Baby Consy was born, to then die a month later.

‘Was it something about the word ‘mother’ I didn’t quite understand? You see to me, it’s many things. It’s being a figure of love which can show in many different forms – such as my sister who steps in like a mum, my best friend Mel who gives me motherly advice.. Erin with all the knowledge and heart – just as a mother would do.

‘When we step back and understand that when we haven’t got what society deem’s a mother here in flesh.. we can look outward to what produces a motherly feeling as a whole. 

‘And that’s what I look for now. I have it in different forms – although it will never bring my mum back.. the feelings of grief are somewhat comforted through what I do have.

‘How about being a mum to Xaya you may say – now this title I take quite strongly with my head up and shoulders back. 

‘This beautiful girl taught me the meaning of feminine power… but most importantly she gave me a purpose – to be her mother.

‘And if we want to strip it back a bit more – how do I find my own identity in all of this.. as surely I’m not just a mother. I’m Malin. 

‘I have many different roles that I act on in my daily life.. i have become more than just a mother through giving birth – I have found ME.’

Malin concluded: ‘For those that have lost a child, mother.. parent alone, have a step-mother or are a step-mother.. look at the beautiful roles you play in the life you live – and how much of an impact you have on others around you.

‘You beautiful soul – we don’t need a day of marketing called Mother’s Day, every day is a celebration of our superhuman strength.’
