Manchester United have been hit harder than most when it comes to injuries this season. Even the international break did not pass them by without a fresh setback for Erik ten Hag to deal with.
England defender Harry Maguire pulled up at Wembley as The Three Lions were beaten 1-0 by Brazil on Saturday night. The 31-year-old returned to Carrington following that match and will be assessed before the club’s Premier League meeting with Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium this Saturday night.

Harry Maguire

Maguire was withdrawn during England’s defeat to Brazil after starting the game and wearing the armband when Manchester City defender Kyle Walker was substituted before him with a knock of his own. The United player was sent back to Carrington and Ten Hag is due to provide an update on his fitness.

Lisandro Martinez

What Ten Hag has said: “It’s a setback, of course. You see his contribution to the team when he’s playing. Apart from his technical skills, he also brings mentality into the team, but it’s a big setback. He’s disappointed, but he’s a fighter, he will be back and he will be back stronger.”
Luke Shaw
Injury: Muscular.

What Ten Hag has said: “Was precaution, Luke Shaw, he gave some messages about complaints. We know his history with too many injuries and we couldn’t go into the risk. [It was a] very important game, but we can’t miss him for six weeks.”
Tyrell Malacia

What Ten Hag has said: “Malacia will take some more weeks. Yeah, he had setbacks during his rehab process. It takes too long, it’s bad for him. Bad for us. But now, we turned a point and it’s positive, he will return soon on the pitch. I don’t think then it will take long before he’s returning in team training.”
Casemiro
Injury: Hamstring.

Casemiro picked up a hamstring injury before the FA Cup thriller with Liverpool which preceded the international break. Speaking at the time, Ten Hag described his absence as a huge miss, but United went on to win that tie 4-3.
Omari Forson
Injury: Unspecified.

Anthony Martial
Injury: Groin.

What Ten Hag has said: “It’s not a secret that I wanted a striker extra. Because with the injury of Martial we don’t really have back-up there, but it was not possible because we have to match the Financial Fair Play rules. But, yeah, we have to be a little bit creative if it’s up to the No.9 position.”
