Beyonce and Lady Gaga have sparked rumors among fans that they will possibly reunite for a sequel to their hit track Telephone – nearly 14 years after the music video dropped.
Both the Crazy In Love singer, 42, and Poker Face hitmaker, 37, attended Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas on Sunday which saw the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the San Francisco 49ers with a final score of 25-22.
During the game, Beyonce notably announced her Renaissance: Act II album and also dropped two new single for her fans titled Texas Hold ‘Em and 16 Carriages.
The big day caused social media users to theorize that the pair will possibly release a sequel to Telephone – not long after Lady Gaga also teased that she was working on new music last month.
At the very end of the music video which dropped back in March 2010, ‘To Be Continued,’ appeared on the screen – leaving fans awaiting for a second part ever since.
A variety of clues have been noted, according to Just Jared, which led to fans speculating that a sequel could be on the way.
At the beginning of the music video, Lady Gaga is booked in jail on February 11 – which also happened to be the same day of Super Bowl LVIII that both singers attended.
The second possible hint was Virgin Mobile was shown in the video, and Beyonce notably starred in a Verizon Super Bowl ad.
The Formation songstress also uploaded a teaser clip for her upcoming album which showed her driving through a desert- and in the music video, the two stars also cruised through a desert.
Another clue, per the the outlet, was that Beyonce’s latest single Texas Hold ‘Em is also similar to lyrics in Lady Gaga’s 2008 track, Poker Face.
At one point in the upbeat song, she could be heard singing, ‘I wanna hold ’em like they do in Texas, please.’
The last two hints included Gaga at the Super Bowl, and she uploaded a snap to Instagram to show herself holding up two fingers – possibly referencing to a part two or sequel.
Lastly, the Bad Romance performer also wore a jersey with #16 while Beyonce dropped her other song on Sunday called 16 Carriages.
However, Joe Montana’s jersey number was 16 when he played for the San Francisco 49ers and the singer was cheering on the team during the game rather than the Chiefs.
Fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to offer their opinions on the speculation – with one penning, ‘Lady Gaga does have a movie coming out this year (Joker 2), so this drop with Beyonce would make sense if it did happen this year.’
One fan simply typed out, ‘We need Lady Gaga x Beyonce – Telephone Part II!!’ while another wrote, ‘They’re just never going to give us a part 2 to #Telephone are they?!?? @ladygaga @beyonce.’
‘This footage of Lady Gaga and Beyonce is the closest we’re ever getting to the Telephone sequel,’ one added.
Along with the screenshot of the end of the music video, another wrote, ‘and if I speak about the Beyonce x lady gaga telephone video.’
One theorized, ‘beyonce’s tapping back into country which is lady gaga’s favorite genre (a la Joanne) so the next scene of that trailer will be her picking up gaga and a twangy instrumental for telephone part 2 begins playing.’
Just one month after Lady Gaga uploaded snaps while inside a recording studio – Beyonce dropped new music on Sunday during Super Bowl LVIII.
The songstress first teased that she would be releasing new music while starring in a Verizon Super Bowl advertisement.
During the commercial, the Grammy winner attempted to take down the networks 5G network and break the internet, such as working at a lemonade stand, running for Beyonce of the United States and also becoming BarBey.
However, her attempts proved to be futile and at the very end, she could be heard telling Tony Hale – who also appeared in the ad: ‘You ain’t gon’ break me. Okay, they ready. Drop the new music.’
She also uploaded a video to her main Instagram page to reveal that Renaissance Act II will drop next month on March 29.
The clip kicked off with Beyonce driving in a vehicle with a license plate that read, ‘Texas Hold Em’ while cruising in Texas as country music played on the radio – also teasing the theme of the 16-track album.
Not long after the reel was shared to her social media account, Beyonce dropped two singles – Texas Hold ‘Em and 16 Carriages.
She included two accompanying images for the tracks, and wowed while wearing a chrome bralette top as well as matching, skimpy bottoms attached to a belt that wrapped around her waist.
The performer layered the look with a cropped black jacket, while also sporting a cowgirl hat and large, silver earrings.
The beauty also appeared in a black and white image for 16 Carriages while wearing a button up as well as a hat that was placed on top of her head.
Beyonce dropped her seventh studio album Renaissance: Act 1 album back in July 2022 followed by her movie Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce which was released late last year in December.
