The hit cosy crime show is the first spin-off of Death In Paradise and has enjoyed huge ratings during its recent second season. The show stars Kris Marshall as DI Humphrey Goodman who has moved to the fictional Devonshire town of Shipton Abbott having moved back to the UK from the Caribbean where Death in Paradise is set.

And it seems 51-year-old Kris could be slipping on a Christmas hat this year as a festive special is set to air in December – with a third season of the show also commissioned to bring new adventures to screens. Fans will have more bizarre crimes to try to unravel as they watch the cast work through a number of new cases as the show will be back following the thrilling conclusion of season two tonight.

Meanwhile, Director of BBC Drama Lindsay Salt has also teased future episodes, saying: “Beyond Paradise has become such a huge hit with millions of viewers across the UK. It’s a show that is absolutely on a roll, and we’re beyond pleased to bring more fiendishly clever mysteries from the Shipton Abbott team to the BBC.”

Season two of the show saw plenty of twists, turns and heartwarming moments – as DI Humphrey almost tied the knot with Martha Lloyd, played by Sally Retton – while their fostering journey saw them welcome Ryan, played by Isaac Vincent-Norgate, into their home. The mysterious cases of the season saw DI Humphrey and his team investigate a death on a steam train, a local going missing at sea, and a medium predicting an arson attack.
