When Did WWE Decide To Vacate Rhea Ripley’s Women’s World Championship?

A new report reveals when WWE made the call that Rhea Ripley would need to relinquish her Women’s World Championship.

Rhea Ripley was riding high coming out of WrestleMania 40, having defeated Becky Lynch on the Grandest Stage of Them All to retain her Women’s World Championship.

However, on the April 8th episode of Monday Night Raw, disaster struck for Ripley when she was involved in a backstage brawl with Liv Morgan. It was reported on April 15th that Ripley was injured during the brawl with Morgan, and it later came to light that the star had suffered a sprained AC joint. Ahead of the April 10th episode of Raw, all eyes were on Ripley to see if she would need to vacate the title she’d successfully defended the week before.

Sure enough, Rhea Ripley opened Monday Night Raw with the news that she did indeed need to relinquish her title after 380 days as champion. Visibly upset, the star declared that she would be taking time away but will be back to get revenge on Liv Morgan, who she called a “coward” for blindsiding her the previous week. Morgan appeared on the ramp to confront Ripley, but the two women were kept apart by security.

How Long Will Rhea Ripley Be Out Of Action After WWE Raw Injury?

Bryan Alvarez reported that Ripley was likely to be out of action for three months, writing:

She suffered a sprained AC joint in the brawl with Liv Morgan last week. Liv threw her into the wall and she hurt it, a total fluke. Usually takes 4-6 weeks to regain mobility and up to three months to be back ready to go.

Now, a new report from Fightful Select sheds more light on the situation, noting that there is no heat on Liv Morgan for the freak accident on April 8th. Furthermore, the report states that WWE made the decision that Ripley would need to vacate her championship last week after the injury took place.

Triple H has since addressed Rhea Ripley’s injury, wishing the star well in her recovery.

Everyone at Inside the Ropes sends our best wishes to Rhea Ripley as she recovers from this unfortunate injury.
