Wall Hack Exploit In ‘Valorant’ Forces Skins To Be Removed Temporarily

Riot Games has announced that some skins have been temporarily removed from Valorant after an exploit was found that allowed players to see enemies through walls when using them.

The exploits were found earlier in the week with some Valorant players noticing that an effect on the new Mystbloom skins allowed them to see the outline of enemy players through walls when they inspected the weapon. This was due to one of the effects on the weapon, which would show an outline of other players through it. You can see it in action below.

In the hours since the exploit was found, other skins have also been found to have the same issue, allowing players to get a big advantage when using them. This has led to Riot Games having to remove some skins from the game while the issue is fixed.

The Mystbloom skin line is being temporarily disabled, but a hot fix for that skin is expected to arrive later today so it won’t be missing for too long. Then certain levels for skins in the Magepunk 3, Imperium and Primordium skin lines are also being removed from Valorant until they can be fixed.

Multiple members of the cosmetics team have taken to X to confirm the issues and reveal that they are working on a patch. This is apparently a new issue, but the fact it has also been found on older skins is somewhat worrying.

“Thanks for the report,” said Sean Marino, associate art director on Valorant in response to someone posting about the issue. “We’ll look at this today. This is a new issue that popped up so we’re taking a sweep and seeing where else it might be happening so we can get a fix out asap.”

“You know we wanna make cool skins but pay-to-win isn’t acceptable or intentional,” added Preeti Khanolkar, lead producer for cosmetic content and systems that support player expression and customization on Valorant in response to the issue with the new skin line. “We didn’t catch this, but appreciate the community helped us find this. We’re fixing this bug now and will push out a fix soon.”

Riot is usually pretty good at fixing major issues such as this and pulling the skins until they can be fixed is certainly the right move given the massive competitive advantage this could give players. However, it is a bit of a downer after a very popular patch earlier in the week that nerfed some more annoying agents.
