Tyson Fury has made it clear that he has no plans to continue in boxing past 2029 as the heavyweight division prepares for the next generation.
The Gypsy King lost his undefeated crown in devastating fashion last week against Oleksandr Usyk in their heavyweight unification bout.
The Ukrainian came close to knocking Fury out in the ninth round, but eventually won on a split-points decision.
The defeat for Fury has raised questions on his own future in the sport and whether he will has the motivation to carry on.
The scheduled rematch with Usyk looks set to go ahead later this year as Fury looks to regain to become world champion once again.
Fury will be 36 years old by the time he faces Usyk again and he’s toyed with retirement from the sport in the past.
He announced back in 2022 that he was planning to hang up his gloves on his 34th birthday, only to suddenly perform a U-turn and make a quick return to the ring.
Fury looks set to continue for at least a few more years with plans of a hotly-anticipated clash with Anthony Joshua potentially in 2025.
But the former WBC heavyweight champion has no plans to continue fighting for too much longer.
“I can’t see myself hanging around for the next five years. Never mind 20 years,” Fury said.
“I’ve given a lot to this game. I give all my youth, all my teenage years, all my young adult life.
“I’ve got to have some time to be me, really.

“All the things I’ve done and all the accolades and all the money I’ve earned, I’ve got to have time to enjoy it.
“It’s only a short life, innit? We’re here today, gone tomorrow.”
Fury’s eventual retirement from boxing will leave a gaping hole in the heavyweight division with both Usyk and Joshua also similar ages.

Daniel Dubois is the highest-ranked heavyweight boxer below the age of 30 and has already had one title shot when he suffered a controversial loss to Usyk in 2023.
The 26-year-old’s next test comes against IBF mandatory challenger Filip Hrgovic later this summer as he looks to get a grip on the heavyweight division.
American Jared Anderson is also seen as a future star of the heavyweight division having won all of his 17 professional fights with 15 coming by way of knockout.
Moses Itauma is seen as the most promising teenage star to take the division by storm with the likes of Fury and others backing him to become a future world champion.
