Two teenagers have been arrested after shots were fired on a major road in what police believe was a “targeted shooting”.
Emergency services were called to New Chester Road on the border of Rock Ferry and New Ferry on Tuesday, March 26, after reports of gunfire. Officers said they received a call at 10.30pm, but believe the incident happened 25 minutes earlier.

Last night, police arrested two 19-year-old men from Eastham and New Ferry on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. Both were taken to a police station in Merseyside and have since been released on bail.
Detective Chief Inspector Tony Roberts of Merseyside Police said: “Although our officers have now made two arrests after what was an incredibly reckless crime that left a community in shock, we are continuing to appeal for anyone with information to please come forward.
“We maintain that this was a targeted incident and our enquiries into the full circumstances of the crime are ongoing.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has CCTV or doorbell footage, or any information which could help us with our enquiries is asked to contact police. Likewise, any motorists who were in the area that may have captured the incident on dashcam footage, please get in touch.”
Detective Chief Inspector Roberts added: “I hope these arrests show that Merseyside Police pro-actively investigates serious organised crime including the use of guns and is relentless in its pursuit of any offenders.
“Information from the public is vital if we are to make our streets a safer place to live.”
