The Last of Us Part 2 is coming to the PlayStation 5, according to a reputable dataminer and leaker.
That’s according to reputable PlayStation database dataminer @PlayStationSize, who recently tweeted a fairly vague tweet. Insider Gaming reached out to PlayStationSize privately, who confirmed that the tweet refers to The Last of Us Part II as a native version being added to the PlayStation database.
When speaking with its sources, Insider Gaming was able to independently verify the claim.
It’s unclear when the news will be announced, but with The Game Awards just a few weeks away and to take place on December 8, it might not be long until an announcement is official.
The Last of Us Part 2 was released in 2020 on the PlayStation 4, missing a native release on the PlayStation 5. The game would later come to the PlayStation 5 though, allowing gameplay at 60 frames a second.
The Last of Us Part II received critical acclaim from critics and users alike and won the most awards at The Game Awards in its history, including Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Audio Design, Innovation in Accessibility, Best Action/Adventure, and Best Performance.
According to Sony, The Last of Us Part II sold over four million copies worldwide, becoming the fastest-selling PlayStation 4 exclusive at that time to date.
The Last of Us success led to HBO adapting the game for a TV series, with Season 1 achieving 32 million viewers per episode on average. Season 2 will begin filming in January 2024 and is scheduled to release in 2025.
What do you think of a native version of The Last of Us Part 2 coming to the PS5?
