Tesco ‘please don’t eat’ warning as sweets pulled from shelves

Tesco has issued a “please don’t eat” warning to customers after some sweets have been pulled from sale.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issues recalls for a variety of reasons, including when products contain allergens that are not disclosed on the packaging or if plastic is detected in the item. When a product is recalled, for any reason, the FSA shares details on what you should do if you have bought the item, as well as detailed information on why the item has been pulled from sale.

Tesco has had to recall specific batches of jelly sweets as they may pose a risk to people with certain allergies.

In an official notice, Tesco said it was recalling certain batches of The Natural Confectionery Co. Jelly Snakes. Signs explained: “This is because they may, in error, contain a Liquorice Allsorts sweet, containing wheat flour.

“This may be a health risk if you’re allergic to wheat.”

The notice went on to advice customers: “If you’ve bought an affected product and are allergic to wheat protein, please don’t eat it. Instead, return it to a Tesco store for a refund. No receipt is required.”
