Teacher at Notting Hill school found dead on stage of nativity play

A teacher at a prestigious London private school was found dead on stage the morning after children performed their nativity play.

The 52-year-old, who has not been named, is understood to have been discovered dead at St Matthew’s Church Bayswater last Tuesday morning.

He was a teacher at Pembridge Hall School for girls, which is located nearby in Notting Hill and costs £26,000 a year.

According to the Sun, the man is believed to have died the previous evening.

Police said the death was unexpected, but is not currently being treated as suspicious. The teacher’s next-of-kin have been informed.

The vicar of St Matthew’s, Will Coleridge, told the Sun: ‘We sadly had an unfortunate incident here on Monday night.

‘It was inside the church. I can’t say too much but it is dreadful.

‘I half knew the deceased. Of course the nativity here is all cancelled now – they will do it elsewhere, which is understandable.’
