Police today named two suspects after a “homemade bomb” was found in a flat.
An army bomb squad was called to Ellis Place, off High Park Street, in Dingle at around 2.25pm on Friday, April 19, after reports a substance had been found. Homes and businesses near the scene were forced to evacuate as police surrounded the area.
Following further examinations it was confirmed the substance in question was an “improvised explosive device”. A controlled explosion was carried out in the New Brighton area.

Detectives from Merseyside Police’s specialist County Lines unit, Project Medusa, have now charged two men in connection with the incident.
Lain Estridge, 21, of Laurel Road, Fairfield was charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine, being concerned in the supply of heroin, possession with intent to sell heroin possession with intent to sell crack cocaine and possession of criminal property.
Deljai Washington, 22, of Sandon Street, Liverpool 8 was charged with possession of an explosive substance for unlawful purpose, possession with intent to sell crack cocaine, possession of criminal property, being concerned in the supply of cannabis resin and possession with intent to sell cannabis.
They were remanded into custody and appeared at Liverpool Adult Remand Court this morning.
