Most of all, he charmed a nation by expressing how much happiness dance has given him; even his family was shocked by this new Krishnan. It’s a reminder to us all that, as much as we value professional success and caring for others, finding something that gives us joy and lets us express ourselves is hugely valuable too.
In his farewell speech, Guru-Murthy called the experience “life-changing”, thanking everyone involved with the show. He said Oakley was “the real Strictly star” and predicted she would go a long way. In response, Oakley said Guru-Murthy is “what Strictly is about”, and that he’d been a dream of a first partner. The brilliant Oakley deserves a red-hot ringer next year.
The judges finally disagree
The dance-offs have been getting closer and closer over the weeks, and this was definitely a contentious one. Rippon and Guru-Murthy had both delivered good routines on Saturday, though the latter’s performance dipped slightly due to his concentration, while the former had some wobbles because she hurled herself into it.
In the dance-off itself, Rippon did actually have a noticeable error in her paso doble, almost slipping over when she leant back to do a big kick (it tripped her up on Saturday too; both times she did well to save it), while Guru-Murthy upped his performance, but missed one connection. That brought the pair closer together – they were originally seven points apart on the leaderboard – and made the judges’ decision harder than it might have been.
