Spring may be upon us, but Plymouth has woken up to a blanket of snow after the white stuff fell last night (Wednesday, March 27). Parts of the city was hit with heavy snowfall late last night, which had settled enough for one person to make a snowman.
The snow first started to fall just before 10pm last night, and fell thick and fast. One local reported it as a ‘prolonged blizzard’, adding they have never seen snowflakes ‘so big’.
Devon-based forecasters at the Met Office warned of snow and sleet yesterday. Their warning was in place between 11pm and 4am, with another yellow warning for gale-force winds across Devon and Cornwall set for today.

Temperatures today (March 28) remain low, with highs of 5°. While more snow is not forecast to fall today, heavy rain is expected with strong winds, feeling bitterly cold.
