‘She’s the biggest star of the programme!’

BBC Breakfast was hit by a blunder live on air during Sunday’s show, when an unexpected guest accidentally appeared on screen.

Hosts Roger Johnson and Sarah Campbell were broadcasting from the BBC studio when they were interrupted briefly.

After Laura Kuenssberg’s political segment, the cameras crossed back to the presenting duo on the red sofa.

However, a showrunner could be seen coming over behind the couch to hand over a document before realising she was on camera and dashing out of shot.

A shocked Roger and Sarah let out a ‘Oh!’ in unison before bursting into a fit of giggles as they tried to get the show back on track.

Roger told viewers: ‘That was Tracey by the way,’ before Sarah said: “Tracey giving us a script there and thank you to …’

Roger interjected to quip: ‘That’s two days running she’s done that apparently. She’s the biggest star of the programme!’

Sarah laughed and confirmed: ‘She certainly is’ before launching into a segment about the dangers of E-scooters.

However, the hilarious mishap wasn’t missed by everyone as one viewer took to social media to screenshot the funny moment.

They shared the photo on X, formerly known as Twitter and joked: ‘Good morning to the lady on the right.’

It comes after Sarah and the rest of the BBC Breakfast team welcomed back fellow presenter Nina Warhurst on Wednesday, as she returned from her maternity leave.

The television news anchor, 43, welcomed a baby girl named Nance with her husband Ted in July – the pair’s third child together.

And she returned to TV screens this week for the first time to present an investigation into the price of baby formula.

Sarah began the morning segment by saying prices of baby formula look set to drop, but only slightly.

Jon Kay then chimed in to say: ‘And we have got the perfect person to investigate this for us. Because I am delighted to say that back from maternity leave it’s Nina. Lovely to see you.’

Nina gushed about how much she had missed ‘the gang’ at BBC Breakfast, but added she also missed her little girl, who she proudly proclaimed was the ‘best baby’.

She said: ‘Thank you very much it’s lovely to be back. I have missed the gang. I’m missing the baby this morning very much but yeah it’s lovely to be back. Best job in the world. And best baby in the world.’

She continued: ‘I know everyone thinks their baby is the best one but sorry guys, mine actually is yeah.’

Nina segued into the news on formula by saying she has been keeping an eye on prices due to her own journey of ‘bringing down the breastfeed and increasing the formula’ as Nance starts nursery.
