Samsung Galaxy Ring to launch at the next Unpacked event in late July

At its Unpacked event in January when it made the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra official, Samsung also quickly teased the upcoming Galaxy Ring wearable. Since then, there has been a lot of speculation regarding the Galaxy Ring’s official introduction and when that might happen.

Today a new report from Samsung’s home of Korea claims the Galaxy Ring will be announced at the next Unpacked event, which is expected to take place in the second half of July. It’s also where the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 are to become official.

The Galaxy Ring will have ECG support and will measure blood pressure, and will also support NFC payments. It’s currently in the prototyping stage and mass production is set to begin at some point between April and June. There will apparently be eight different sizes on offer.

Apple has also accelerated its work in the smart ring space, patenting more and more related features for a possible Apple Ring coming in the future. Currently the (very small) market is led by Oura, which introduced its first smart ring in 2016. The third generation has sleep tracking and heart rate monitoring, but Oura wasn’t able to make the smart ring market truly take off the way a big name like Samsung has the potential to.
