Rumour: New DOOM Game Reveal at Xbox Showcase, Coming to PS5

Ahead of next month’s Xbox Games Showcase, outlet Insider Gaming has posted a new report claiming Bethesda plans to announce a new DOOM game during the livestream, called DOOM: The Dark Ages. Sources tell the website the new title out of id Software will be “medieval-inspired”, essentially confirming it’ll be a prequel to the PS4 reboot and DOOM Eternal.

That’s not all: in a separate tweet, insider Nate the Hate says the game will be revealed as a multi-platform game, with a PS5 version announced there and then during the show.

Following the release of Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves on PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch, it was assumed Microsoft would continue its multi-platform efforts with more ports. To announce a brand new game with a PS5 version right alongside Xbox Series X|S is quite a significant step above those late ports, however. Will it be the only Xbox game to be revealed for Sony consoles? We’ll need to tune in to the Xbox Games Showcase on 9th June 2024 for the official details.
