Prince Harry has made his trip to the UK for the Invictus Games all about how King Charles didn’t want to see him, claim TV hosts – after it was revealed he reportedly did have an invite from King Charles to stay at a royal residence.
The Duke of Sussex was in London on May 8 to speak at an event at St Paul’s Cathedral to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, the sporting competition for injured service men and women, that he helped found.
Sky News Australia host, James Macpherson said: “Harry made it all about the fact that dad didn’t want to see him when in fact his dad had offered him to stay at the royal residence (St James’s Palace). This is another example of Harry burning every bridge.”
The Telegraph claims Harry turned down the offer to stay as it did not come with security. However, a panelist on Sky News said: “Unless he’s hired out the entire hotel, it is possible someone encounters him and sees him. I don’t buy this argument that he’d keep his anonymity if he stayed in a hotel.”
Reports say Harry is said to have made attempts to meet with his father, only to later issue a statement saying his father was too busy to meet him.
Harry spent three nights in London having flown to the UK from his Montecito home in California, before flying out to Nigeria with his wife, Meghan Markle, for a three-day visit as part of the Invictus celebrations.
