A road has been closed with immediate effect over fears for a weak bridge.
Liverpool City Council posted on social media on Tuesday, January 9, to warn people hoping to travel through the Dingle area that Caryl Street, the road behind Brunswick train station, would be closed. This follows an inspection on a bridge owned by Network Rail.
According to the council, the inspection deemed the bridge to be “weak” and the road was immediately closed between Park Street and Princeton Place.

In an update on social media platform, X, the council said: “Following an inspection, a bridge owned by Network Rail on Caryl Street, in Dingle has been deemed “weak” and the street has been immediately closed. Diversions are in place from Park Street to Princeton Place.
“Updates will follow pending further assessments.”
Network Rail were approached for comment. The closure of the road does not appear to be affecting the Caryl Street entrance to Brunswick station.
The ECHO has approached Merseyrail to ask if there will be any disruption for passengers.
