Leeds United made it seven wins in a row in the Sky Bet Championship, with a convincing victory away at Swansea City. Three goals in the first half were added to with another in the second, to claim another big three points.

Travelling away from home and under the lights in South Wales, Daniel Farke’s side made the perfect start to the game, scoring twice inside the opening 10 minutes of the match.

A dominant start to the match brought about a fine reward for the Whites. Georginio Rutter brilliantly kept the ball alive from a corner, Ilia Gruev then played it to Crysencio Summerville who cut inside and smashed into the back of the net via a deflection.

Just two minutes later and the lead was doubled! Against his former side, Joel Piroe played the ball wide for Willy Gnonto, who quickly returned it to the forward, allowing Piroe to compose himself before smashing into the bottom corner on his right foot.

The game could have and should have been all but out of sight in the 15th minute. Glen Kamara intercepted a short corner from Swansea, released Summerville, who then played Gnonto through one-on-one, but Carl Rushworth made a good save to deny the Italian.

Both goalies were then called into action at either end, and both did well to deny attempts on goal.

The first was from Ronald as he found space at the back of the box, but Illan Meslier saved well. Leeds countered quickly and in doing so, Georginio had a low strike at goal, saved by Rushworth.

Continuing to dominate, the Whites did make it three, and in style! Archie Gray superbly played the ball in behind for Gnonto and the forward had work to do, so he cut inside, beat his marker and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner on his left-foot.

When the whistle sounded for half-time, Farke’s side returned to the dressing room after a strong first 45 minutes, and had three goals to show for their efforts.

HALF TIME: Swansea City 0-3 Leeds United

Both teams emerged for the second half unchanged, as each of them looked to do battle once again. Quickly back on the front foot, Gnonto had the first shot of the half, but was denied by a last-ditch block.

Looking to fight back and reduce the deficit, Jamie Paterson had two chances for the Swans. From his first he flicked narrowly wide of Meslier’s post, before the next one, he half-volleyed over the bar when well placed inside the box.

City were certainly more threatening this half, but the work Leeds had done in the first saw them remain in control of the scoreline and the game overall, and allowed them to counter attack the hosts.

Doing just that, the Whites got a fourth! Summerville brilliantly won the ball back and evaded challenges on the wing, before sliding in Gnonto one-on-one. He raced into the area and calmly found the bottom corner to get his second of the game.

Farke went to his bench straight after the goal. He brought on Jaidon Anthony and the returning Dan James, in place of Summerville and Gnonto, who had constantly been a threat throughout their 72 minutes on the pitch.

Shortly after the first two changes, three more came, as Connor Roberts replaced Gray, with Jaidon Anthony and Joe Gelhardt also both entering in place of Georginio and Piroe.

The second half was brought to a close and Leeds had claimed another big three points on the road. Next up, the Whites return to the South Coast, facing Plymouth Argyle in a league clash this time.
