Princess Beatrice and Eugenie are set to be snubbed for a surprise royal promotion, one commentator has claimed.

There have been reports that The Firm are considering calling up a member of the wider royal family to become a working royal. This would, it’s claimed, help take the burden off the senior royals who do most.

The Daily Express cited a royal source and said an emergency meeting was held over whether to call up Princess Beatrice, 35, and Princess Eugenie, 33. The Princess of York was put forward as a possible candidate, but one royal expert thinks she will be overlooked not because of her own actions, but that of her disgraced father.

Richard Fitzwilliams told GB News that the sisters, he thinks, ultimately won’t be considered because of the long shadow cast by Andrew. However, a surprise candidate was seemingly in line for the promotion, the commentator said, pointing to Louise Windsor, 20, who’s currently at university.

Mr Fitzwilliams told the outlet: “I think it would have been a different situation if Andrew had not been in disgrace. But as it is, I don’t think that is likely. There might be the possibility of Lady Louise Windsor [becoming a working royal] once she has finished her studies.”

Lady Louise Windsor is the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and is currently studying at St Andrews University in Scotland – where both William and Kate went. However, Princess Eugenie is close to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and thought to have the best relationship with the self-exiled Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Because of this, she could be best suited to help thaw relations between the Californian-based royals, and The Firm. Mr Fitzwilliams said: “Princess Eugenie knows what she is doing. The fact she is close to the Sussexes could be an advantage. You need a foot in both camps. One day they will hope for a peaceful resolution, so that could be very useful.”
