Peter Phillips has split from his girlfriend Lindsay Wallace after three years together.
Princess Anne’s son, 46, started dating his old friend, 43, following his divorce from Autumn Kelly, 45, in 2021.
The pair have now gone their separate ways after the relationship ‘ran its course’, a source told the Sun.
Peter and Lindsay, an oil tycoon’s daughter, are still amicable, with no one else believed to be involved.
Lindsay has been to various royal events with Peter, who is very close to his uncle, King Charles.
‘They were friends before their relationship blossomed. But Peter and Lindsay have gone their separate ways as the relationship simply ran its course,’ a source told the Sun.
A friend of the couple added to Hello that Peter’s work commitments means he’s been travelling ‘non-stop’.
‘Peter and Lindsay made the difficult decision to separate as they were spending less time together with work and family commitments. Peter’s business commitments and work in F1 meant he has been away and travelling non stop,’ the source said.
‘It obviously came as a shock as most people thought they were absolutely rock solid, it’s very sad. Peter has been travelling all over the world and has been incredibly busy and Lindsay is based up in Scotland, so it’s been hard for them to see each other.’
The late queen’s grandson does not get money from the royal grant and works as head of partner acquisition for the rights agency CSM Sport & Entertainment and as an ambassador for ISPS Handa.
In June, a friend of the King’s nephew told Hello that Peter has always been ‘extremely close’ with Charles and that ‘it meant a lot’ that he was able to bring Lindsay to the Coronation concert.
The source told the outlet: ‘He is in a great place at the moment and could not be happier in either his private or personal life.’
The friend added the pair look ‘so natural’ in each other’s company, adding they are ‘incredibly happy’ together.
‘Lindsay really is a breath of fresh air and it’s clear to see both Lindsay and Peter are loving life,’ the friend continued.
Peter and Canadian-born Autumn announced they were separating in 2020, with the divorce finalised in 2021. They share two daughters, Savannah, 13, and Isla, 12.
The stay-at-home mother parted from businessman Andrew, her husband of 11 years, at around the same time last year that Phillips announced he and his wife Autumn were divorcing after 12 years of marriage.
She still has a good relationship with some members of the family. In the summer, she was pictured at a charity golf tournament with Zara , Peter’s sister.
Meanwhile rumours of a romance between Peter and Lindsay first emerged when he made a visit to see her in March 2021 – raising questions around whether he had broken lockdown restrictions.
Eight months later, he showed he was serious about his new relationship when he brought Lindsay as his date to his nephew Lucas’s christening.
The couple were photographed in a car together ahead of the Royal Family gathering.
Peter, the eldest child of Princess Anne and Mark Phillips, then took the highly significant step of introducing Lindsay to his late grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, who was said to have been ‘delighted’.
Lindsay was introduced to Her late Majesty at a shooting party at Windsor and the encounter was described as ‘warm’ by a source.
A spokesman for Mr Phillips confirmed at the time that Lindsay had accompanied him to the joint christening of Zara and Mike Tindall’s son, Lucas, and Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s son, August, in Windsor.
Lindsay, a mother of two, knows Mr Phillips and his sister, Zara, from their school days at £45,000-a-year Gordonstoun.
Lindsay, who has also split from her husband, was in the same year as Zara at Gordonstoun, the respected Scottish school also attended by Charles.
She was among the guests at the royal’s 2011 wedding to rugby star Mike Tindall.
The mother-of-two joined Peter at both Wimbledon and Ascot, as well as the Coronation concert.
But Peter appeared to be without Lindsay at the Bahrain Grand Prix at the start of March.
Despite being entitled to a Prince title at birth, Peter and his sister Zara do not have titles as his mother wanted him to have as normal a live as possible.
Last month, Peter has opened up about the final moments he spent with his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, in Scotland.
The royal said he was ‘lucky to be in Scotland before she passed’ on 8 September 2022.
In an interview with Sky News Australia, Peter reflected on the ‘few days’ they shared ‘as a family’, describing that time as ‘really nice’.
‘Looking back on it, it’s still quite emotional, that part was a proper family moment,’ he revealed.
‘And then obviously when she left Balmoral it became more of a public grieving.
‘In many ways we’d had our quiet moment with her, we’d said our goodbyes, so whilst it still wasn’t particularly easy, it was easier to be able to share the public’s grief for her.’
Peter, a businessman, described the late Queen as ‘remarkable in so many ways’.
Highlighting that ‘she was a figurehead that had been part of everybody’s lives for as long as people could remember’, he also spoke from a personal perspective.
‘Having her as a grandmother and a role model was unique’, he said.
Reflecting on the imprint that the monarch and the late Duke of Edinburgh left on all the members of the royal family, he credited his grandparents with teaching them how ‘to grow up and behave’.
Peter implied that he shared a close relationship with his grandparents, explaining that the fact they were around for a significant part of his life has led to ‘a greater connection, a greater respect and a greater ability to be able to learn from them’.
He talked fondly of the time he and his cousins spent with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, sitting together and talking about their lives, adding that it was ‘fascinating because it was a different part of history’.
Moving on to King Charles III, Peter complimented his uncle on the way he had handled the transition, holding onto much of what his parents had put in place while also making his own mark.
Commenting on King Charles’s reign, he added: ‘I think that’s probably the greatest testament to both of them – that he’s doing things his way but very much with a nod to the way that they always did it and the core of what they taught us.’
Earlier in the interview, Peter also spoke about his relationship with his mother, Princess Anne, who he described as ‘hugely influential’ to both himself and his sister, Zara Tindall.
He seemed especially in awe of his 73-year-old mother’s work ethic, which, according to Peter, stems from his grandparents, who were both working well into their nineties.
Peter discussed the Princess Royal’s fondness for being with her loved ones amid a hectic schedule which sees her turning around ‘overseas trips in 24 hours’.
The King’s sister – who is often called the ‘hardest working royal’ and carried out 457 royal engagements in 2023 – has been dubbed ‘remarkable’ by her eldest child.
‘Her mindset is “listen I can go in do what we need to do and come back”‘ he told the programme.
‘She really values her home time and values her time with Tim and the family and the dogs and the horses and that’s a really important part of the structure of her week.
‘To be able to actually relax and just get to get to some form of normality.’
