Pamela Anderson, 56, reveals she stopped wearing makeup because it’s ‘very freeing’ and thinks ‘chasing youth is futile’

Pamela Anderson has revealed she finds it ‘freeing’ to go makeup-free to events.

The Baywatch star, 56, has been embracing her natural beauty and went viral for showing up make-up free at Paris Fashion Week in September.

Speaking to PEOPLE about her decision to go without makeup she revealed the most fun part about getting older is that she doesn’t ‘have to be cool.’

She explained: ‘Chasing youth is futile. All we can do is embrace who we are at the moment we are in, and be okay with where our feet stand right now.’

The Barb Wire star went on to clarify that she’s not shunning makeup completely but explained she simply doesn’t ‘want to play the game’, revealing it feels great to look in the mirror and be ‘OK just like this’.

Pamela showed off her age-defying features as she went make-up free for Victoria Beckham’s runaway show amid PFW earlier in September.

The Playboy icon cut a chic figure in a floral dress, which displayed frilled embellishments on her bust.

She previously told Entertainment Tonight: ‘The 90′s was the 90′s, and now it’s 2023. I like to do things that are different, I feel like… [and] this is a new chapter of my life.

‘Natural beauty still takes two hours in front of a mirror. It’s funny because, you know, I’m always in the garden now. I always have dirt under my nails. So it’s nice to wear diamonds just to glam it up a little bit.’

The Canadian beauty has been heaped with praise for her ‘courageous’ choice to go makeup-free – as the likes of Scarlett Johansson and Jamie Lee Curtis publicly complimented her.

The Baywatch actress talked more about the reason why she’s begun embracing her natural beauty while speaking to ELLE in August.

She told the outlet that her perspective on beauty changed after the death of her makeup artist Alexis Vogel, who passed away from breast cancer in 2019.

‘[Alexis] was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup,’ Pamela explained.

She added: ‘I did notice that there were all these people doing big makeup looks, and it’s just like me to go against the grain and do the opposite what everyone’s doing.’

Pamela also remarked on ageing and how it’s been a ‘journey’ for her.

‘I think we all start looking a little funny when we get older. And I’m kind of laughing at myself when I look at the mirror. I go, “Wow, this is really…what’s happening to me?” It’s a journey.

‘I feel rooted for. I feel good. I’m in a good place.’

Her decision to ditch cosmetics also stemmed from feelings that she often ‘just went along with what people were telling me what to do’ in the early days of her career.

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis, 64,  applauded Pamela for going barefaced and called the decision an ‘act of courage and rebellion.’

She then declared ‘the natural beauty revolution has officially begun!’

The Freaky Friday star wrote on her Instagram page: ‘Pamela Anderson in the middle of fashion week with so many pressures and postures, and and and, this woman showed up and claimed her seat at the table with nothing on her face.

‘I am so impressed and floored by this act of courage and rebellion.’
