‘No matter how many times I fell, I always got back up’

Lindsey Vonn shared an inspirational message about overcoming adversity on her Instagram account on Monday morning.

The 39-year-old former Olympian retired from competitive skiing in 2019, and she has since undergone several surgical procedures related to her sporting career.

The athlete – who recently opened up about being in pain ‘all the time’ – posted various photos from her former periods of recovery, and she offered a bit of guidance to any of her followers going through difficult times in her statement.

Vonn began her message by expressing that, although she had gone through numerous injuries over the course of her career, she worked to overcome each one. 

‘I’ve been bruised and broken but I’ve always come out the other side a better person. No matter how many times I fell, I always got back up,’ she wrote.

The ski racer went on to show her gratitude for the ongoing support of her fanbase and her loved ones. 

‘I didn’t do it alone though. I am so thankful to have had the support of friends, family and you guys, my fans. Knowing I had people supporting me helped me in my darkest hours,’ she wrote.

Vonn then spoke about overcoming hardships in order to continue her career as a professional athlete. 

‘Every day I tried to put one foot in front of the other until it eventually got me back to where I wanted to go…which was usually the top of the mountain,’ she recalled.

The former Olympian concluded by reassuring her followers that they would be able to get through their rough patches and grow as individuals in the process. 

‘We are all on our own paths, but if you’re injured or going through a hard time, believe in yourself and know that you will come out of it a better and stronger person. You got this,’ she wrote.

Vonn began her photoset with a shot of her carrying boxes of pizza while recovering from her July 2023 knee surgery.

She also shared a close-up snap of the area on her arm where her medical team operated during one of her procedures.

The former Olympian’s dog was seen while resting on her post-surgery leg in another one of the photos. 

Vonn went on to share a shot of herself being visited in the hospital after she recovered from one of her procedures. 

The athlete also included a video that showcased some of the rougher falls she had experienced over the years with her post.

Many of the ski racer’s fans, including Rebel Wilson, showed their support for her in the post’s comments section.
