It looks like we’ll have to get a bit more familiar with Marc Guiu’s name and game, as the 18-year-old striker has apparently chosen to join the Chelsea project over signing a new deal at Barcelona.
At least that’s the word from the usual cadre of rumor-merchants, including of course Fabrizio Romano.

This still smells like one of those classic situations that could turn on a dime and end up going the exact opposite way that it’s being reported currently, but barring any such drastic developments, it looks like Guiu will be yet another teenager joining in on our teen spirit.
Given his supposed promise and expected ceiling, Guiu’s €6m release clause is a relative bargain in today’s market, so in that sense his acquisition would be a low-risk, high-reward move for Chelsea. Finding the proper development pathways for him would be key to all of that of course.
Marc Guiu to Chelsea, here we go! The club has just informed Barça on plan to trigger €6m release clause for 2006 born striker.
Verbal agreement in place with Guiu’s agents, now proceeding with formal steps later this week.
