“Man City all over Man Utd in the second half!” | Pep Guardiola’s side defeated Man Utd 3-1

Manchester United suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat to local rivals Manchester City on Sunday as their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League took a hit.

The defeat, coupled with Aston Villa’s 3-2 win over Luton Town on Saturday, leaves United 11 points off the top four. The Red Devils have now suffered back-to-back Premier League defeats for the first time since September, when they were beaten in consecutive games by Arsenal and Brighton.

However, Erik ten Hag will be hoping his side can bounce back when they host Everton at Old Trafford next weekend. And with all that in mind, here is all the latest news from Old Trafford.

Ten Hag sent Ratcliffe warning

Ten Hag has been warned new United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe will not have been impressed by their performance in the derby.

“That’s why you don’t last at the end of the season,” former Liverpool midfielder Jason McAteer said on beIN SPORTS. “I honestly don’t think he’ll be there at the end of the season for next season.

“Jim Ratcliffe will see that [the stats] and it’s just not good enough for a Manchester United team. He did it at Liverpool, now he’s done it at Man City. He gets away with it against the lesser teams but against the better sides he just gets found out.”

Neville hails Mainoo

Former United captain Gary Neville has praised the impact of teenage midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, describing his recent performances as “outstanding”.

Speaking ahead of the derby, Neville told Sky Sports: “He is a bright light, as [Alejandro] Garnacho has been in these last few months. I always think of his first three big games: away at Goodison Park, St James’ Park and Anfield and he handled those really well.
