Man rushed to hospital after ‘sword murder bid’ in Dumfries street

A man has been rushed to hospital following an attempted murder in Dumfries.

Police have launched a probe following the incident on Glebe Street in the town at around 4.05am on Sunday.




A 22-year-old man was rushed to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment. Medics describe his injuries as serious.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Monday.

The Record understands that a sword was used during the incident. Police are now appealing for witnesses.

Detective Inspector Hayley Little said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have information to get in touch.

“We would be keen to speak to anyone who was in the area or who may have dashcam or private CCTV footage from around the time.”
