Live: ‘Serious’ police incident shuts Cheltenham road through morning

Gloucestershire Police are at the scene of a ‘serious police incident’ in Cheltenham today (Tuesday, May 7). Southam Road has been closed at the junction with Ashleigh Lane, according to the force, with police officers still attending to the incident.


Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, Glos Roads asked drivers to avoid the area during their morning commute today while emergency services are in the area.



Glos Roads said: “Southam Road, Cheltenham at the junction with Ashleigh Lane is closed due to a serious police incident. Police remain at the scene. Please avoid this area during Tuesday mornings commute whilst the incident is attended to.”

There has also been a crash on the A46 south of Evesham with the road blocked in both directions.
