LIVE: Long M60 delays from J17 A56 Bury New Road after crash – latest updates

Drivers are facing long delays on a Greater Manchester motorway this morning after a crash has caused a slip road to close.

Queues are building on the M60 clockwise from J17 A56 Bury New Road (Prestwich / Whitefield) after and earlier accident which saw two lanes and the M60 anticlockwise exit slip road closed. All lanes have since been reopened.




Congestion is stretching from J17 A56 Bury New Road (Prestwich / Whitefield) to J18 M66 J4 (Simister Island) on the M60 clockwise, and from the slip road to M62 J21 (Milnrow) on the M60 anticlockwise.

Congestion easing slightly

Queues now stretch to the M62 J20 (Rochdale) from the M60 exit slip road. Before, the congestion was up to M62 J21 (Milnrow).

Delays of ten minutes

There are currently delays of ten minutes against expected traffic, according to National Highways. Congestion still stretches to Simister Island.

Traffic moving slowly

Traffic data from National Highways shows queues are moving on the M60 clockwise between Prestwich and Simister Island, but speeds are slow. Footage from traffic cameras shows long queues still in place.

All lanes now open

All lanes on the M60 clockwise have reopened following the earlier accident. The M60 anticlockwise exit slip road has also reopened. However, long delays remain in the area, with congestion to Simister Island and Milnrow.
