LIVE: A55 crash causing delays and roadworks planned for this evening

Emergency services are dealing with multiple incidents on the roads this afternoon. The eastbound A55 slip road at Coed y Cra in Flintshire was shut earlier due to a crash and there is now(5.30pm) a crash on the A55 near Mold.

Traffic officers are on the scene. In Kinmel Bay, a crash means large vehicles are not able to use Sandy Cove Bridge. Police said there were no issues for cars and car-derived vans.




In Denbighshire, an incident has shut a section of the A5104. Police said the section of road approaching Clawdd Poncen is currently closed and asked drivers to use alternate routes.

A55 crash

There is heavy traffic after a crash on the A55.

The collision happened in the westbound lanes between J33B Mold (A494) – J33A Northop Hall.

Police are on scene. Heavy congestion in the area, avoid if possible.

There is a broken down vehicle on the A55 Westbound J33B Mold (A494) – J33A Northop Hall.

Police are on scene. Lane 2 is currently blocked

Traffic Walss warned of congestion on the A55 Westbound at Britannia Bridge. Allow additional time for your journey.

A55 overnight roadworks

Lane 2 will be closed in both directions between J20 Rhos On Sea and J22 Old Colwyn from 7.30pm this evening to 7am tomorrow morning.

Rolling road blocks

Rolling road blocks #A483 both directions J5 Mold – J6 Gresford tonight.

From 7pm tonight until 7am tomorrow there will be a series of rolling roadblocks to assist with repairs in the area. Delays possible.

The A55 expressway eastbound exit slip road is still closed due to an accident by the Halkyn Travelodge.

Denbighshire accident

In Denbighshire the A5104 eastbound remains closed due to an accident near Clawdd Poncen.

Motorists are advised that the incident is on a stretch of road between the B5437 and the B5436. Traffic is coping well, according to the Inrix website.

Road partly blocked

The A548 Foryd Road eastbound was partly blocked due to an accident from Morfa Avenue to Woodside Avenue in Kinmel Bay a short time ago.

The traffic website Inrix reported that large vehicles were having difficulty passing so it was suggested that drivers find alternative routes.

Exit closed

There have been three traffic-related incidents across North Wales this afternoon. The traffic website Inrix says that they are in Flintshire on the A55, and in Kinmel Bay in Conwy and Clawdd Poncen in Denbighshire.

It says: “A55 North Wales Expressway Eastbound exit slip road closed due to accident at A55 (Halkyn Travelodge).”

That incident happened just after 2pm.
