A woman has shared her washing machine discovery on social media after it left her “stunned”.
Faith took to the Facebook group “Cleaning tips and tricks” where she posted some before and after photos of her washing machine drawer compartment. She admitted she didn’t know the drawer could be removed completely for cleaning until she found a button that released it.
And after seeing how dirty the drawer was, she cleaned it with warm water, washing up liquid and a toothbrush, Yorkshire Live reports.

Sharing her results, she said: “How on earth did I not know this drawer came out?!” Many other group members also admitted they didn’t know about the button, as Mandy said: “They say you learn something everyday….. Well today I learned this thank you x.”
JJ asked: “Really this top section comes out???!” Mary said: “Are you serious? I’m forever bashing my knuckles trying to clean the inside and your telling me this whole time I could have just simply pulled it out? Running off to try now.”
By removing the drawer and cleaning it separately, you could save yourself some time as a gunk-free drawer will likely mean the machine stays cleaner for longer.
Eileen shared a tip with everyone: “Always leave your dispenser drawer slightly open after wash as this helps reduce amount of mould you get.” Jayne then joked: “Doesn’t anyone read the manuals any more?”
