Instagram was down for thousands of users in the US on Friday.
Starting around 3.30pm ET, people began reporting issues with viewing stories, uploading posts and sending direct messages.
Meta, the parent company that owns Instagram, said it was investigating the issue and working on a fix. It said an update would be made by 8pm tonight.
Mark Zuckerberg’s company suffered its biggest ever outage in March that sent Facebook, Instagram and Messenger down for hours.
Thousands of users reported issues with Instagram to the outage tracker website Down Detector on Friday.
But these likely represent a fraction of the number of users actually having problems.
