Kim Kardashian has made her return to the Met steps! For the 2024 Met Gala – the reality star and entrepreneur’s 11th year attending – she donned a custom look from Maison Margiela. Kardashian recently attended John Galliano’s Margiela Artisanal show, sitting front row (wearing a pair of the brand’s signature – and polarising – cleft-toe Tabi shoes) alongside her mother, Kris Jenner, and her sister, Kylie Jenner.
John Galliano, creative director of Maison Margiela, fashioned Kardashian an armour-esque bustier top with floral motifs imprinted into the bodice. Kardashian added a silver floral chainmail dress, worn folded over like a skirt, and a custom Margiela thong that matches the bodice. Over the top, she wore a grey bolero cardigan. The combination of the dramatically cinched waist and the shrug clutched around her shoulders references the extreme proportions seen at Galliano’s spring 2024 Margiela Artisanal show in Paris, which set the internet ablaze back in January.
The Skims founder always makes a splash with her Met Gala looks. Last year, she strung herself in thousands of pearls by Schiaparelli. For 2019’s Notes on Camp theme, she pushed herself to the extreme in a Thierry Mugler wet-look dress dripping with crystals, which contorted her body into an exaggerated silhouette. But perhaps her most talked-about look to date came in 2022, when she wore Marilyn Monroe’s “Happy Birthday Mr President” dress by Jean Louis.
