Hugh Grant donates £20,000 to Burnley charity Depher

The stars made the donation to Depher CIC, a non-profit organisation in Burnley which helps elderly, vulnerable and disabled people who are struggling to heat their homes.

It’s not the first time the couple have made a donation, giving a whopping £55,000 to the charity since October 2021.

James Anderson, founder of Depher, said the donation came at a much-needed time due to the national cost of living crisis.

Posting on Twitter, James said: “This wonderful and humbling donation of £20,000 will give hope to thousands of people, families and children, especially with the cost of living crisis.

“They both have my lifetime of respect and love.”

One of the most recognisable faces in British acting over the past 30 years, Hugh Grant has starred in a number of blockbuster films such as Love Actually, Notting Hill, Four Weddings and a Funeral, and Bridget Jones’ Diary.

His wife, Anna Eberstein, is a successful Swedish television producer, and is also the founder of a sock company called Ace Slippers.

Depher has helped more than 39,000 families get free heating and hot water in their homes since its launch in 2017.

Previously, James described Hugh as a “God” and a “life-saver”.

James tweeted that with part of the latest donation, the charity purchased Christmas gifts for children in the area.

He posted: “Hundreds of children will have a Christmas to remember, they will believe in the magic of giving, humanity and love. Thank you, Hugh Grant and Anna Grant.

“Your kindness will create memories that will last forever.”

On Thursday night, Hugh and Anna descended on Manchester for the Chanel Metiers d’Art show in the Northern Quarter.

Hugh, sporting a black suit and white shirt, took time out from promoting his latest film Wonka to watch the fashion show alongside his wife Anna, who was wearing a blue and brown tweed coat paired with Chanel earrings.

The couple, who married in 2018, were seated next to Narnia actress Tilda Swinton.

Thomas Street was closed after it was transformed into a catwalk for one of the fashion world’s most prestigious events.
