Heinz launches a VERY divisive new flavour of ketchup

From curry flavoured baked beans to barbecue flavoured mayonnaise, Heinz is no stranger to unusual taste combinations.

The company’s latest offering is a twist on their much loved tomato ketchup – and it’s leaving fans of the sauce extremely divided.

Heinz Tomato Ketchup Pickle hit shelves in November, bringing a tangy new twist to the popular condiment. It is expected to hit shelves in the US in 2024.

Pickles have hit new levels of popularity this year, largely thanks to TikTok.

With over 5.4 billion views for #Pickle, internet challenges brought the food item back to the centre of attention – with even celebrity pickle fans like Florence Pugh and Amanda Holden joining in by sharing their love for the veg.

The Heinz website describes their new creation as ‘Our classic Tomato Ketchup with a delicious twist. We’ve added a pickle flavour to give it a sweet tanginess that will take your burger to the next level.

‘But don’t just save it for the burgers! It’s just as tasty with sausages and toasties and transforms crusty bread and cheese into a pickly ploughman’s.’

The sauce is available to buy in Tesco stores nationwide for £3.39.

One fan of the combination tweeted: ‘We are living in the future and we don’t even know it,’ while another said: ‘Omg am I wrong for actually being excited about this?’

Others wrote: ‘Might be good,’ ‘that’s cool!’ and ‘Yum’.

But not everyone is queuing up to buy the divisive product, with one person saying: ‘Hard pass’ and another: ‘That is nasty’.

‘I’m gonna throw up just thinking about it!’ wrote another disgusted user.

One sauce lover rejoiced ‘Heinz is making pickle ketchup!!!’ and another said ‘Gimme! Please?’

A happy fan added ‘I feel like the only thing @HeinzTweets was missing was combining ketchup & pickles into one condiment. Now my life is complete’.

Some customers are sitting on the fence, unsure of whether they want to try it.

One X user reasoned ‘I’d eat it if it’s mixed with regular ketchup but it would have to be the right combination because there’s already vinegar in ketchup so if it’s not perfect it would be too bitter.’

Others questioned ‘pickle ketchup?? hmph’ and ‘Love pickles, don’t care at all about ketchup but maybe I’d try it’.
