Grandad, 55, eats two blocks of cheese EVERY day

A grandad who eats two blocks of cheese a day has gone viral after his ‘fed-up’ wife shared videos of his stomach-churning habit to TikTok.

Ever since he was a child, gardener and timber logger Mark King, 55, has adored cheese to the point where he cannot go a day without it.

Mark’s wife Tracey, 55, says she is ‘fed up’ with how much cheese he eats, revealing their family spends close to £140 a month on the dairy product and roughly £1,600 a year.

The gardener has previously claimed he gorges just shy of 6kg of cheddar a week, but insists he is still able to maintain a healthy physique due to his occupation.

Asked about her husband’s cheese cravings, Tracey told Mail Online: ‘Day and night he eats it.

‘He’s a pain in my side. He has a block of cheese with his lunch and another for his snack before bed, that’s without cooking cheese.

‘He’s loved it ever since he was a kid. I did think around 30 years ago he had too much cheese in his sandwiches, but gave it no thought.

‘It was only when I came on TikTok and I was live making him a sandwich, I had 2,000 views in my chat and everyone was going crazy about the amount he was eating.

‘We’ve asked the doctor whether it’s harming him, but all his blood tests came okay. He had perfect cholesterol. We say the penicillin in the cheese has kept him tiptop all these years.’

Asked about how much they spend on cheddar, she added: ‘I’d like to say I’ve got him down to about £5 a day. I couldn’t guess [how much it is a year] it’s gonna be a crazy amount.

‘When I use cheese for sauce I use around two to three packs but that’s as a family.’

Tracey’s TikTok has garnered massive attention, with several of her videos where she berates her husband for eating cheese receiving more than five million views.

Posting one of her videos, one person on X said: ‘Obsessed with this person on TikTok whose content is solely based around her husband consuming unholy amounts of cheese and being completely unrepentant about it.’

Another commented on TikTok saying: ‘Love the way he is sat there eating it like it’s a chocolate bar.’

A third added: ‘I love a mature bit of cheddar, but I could not just devour a whole block like that.’

A fourth also joked: ‘Cost of living crisis doesn’t exist in this household.’

Her husband’s eating habits have, however, started to annoy Tracey who is growing frustrated by his addiction

Commenting on Mark’s diet, Dr Duane Mellor, a registered dietitian based at Aston University in Birmingham, said: ‘Although recent evidence has changed our views about cheese, in that although they are high in saturated fats, these seems not to be the type which have negative effects on our cholesterol.

‘Cheese can be a good source of protein, calcium and vitamin B12. However, it is high in energy and often also high in salt which can increase risk of high blood pressure and heart disease.

‘Also, if you are eating a lot of cheese and not a variety of other foods, such as vegetables, fruits and pulses as well as wholegrain foods your diet is likely to be low in fibre and this could lead to less regular bowel habits and a less healthy balance of bacteria in the bowel.

‘Therefore, eating more than 1-2 match box size blocks of cheese will not offer any benefits in terms of the nutrients they contain and may contain too much salt and calories.

‘It is always best to try and eat a variety of foods and not focus on eating large amounts of one or two individual foods.’

Previously, Mark told The Sun he consumes 22,513 calories of cheddar every week, but only weighs 14 and a half stone.

He said Tracey will always include 400g of his favourite extra-mature Cathedral City cheese in his sandwiches when he goes to work.

Then, once he returns home he polishes off a big dinner, has  then has another 400g block of cheese before bed.
