Eamonn Holmes was embroiled in a frosty row on GB News with Labour life peer Lord Maurice Glasman over the man set to become prime minister, Sir Keir Starmer.
The Labour leader has romped to victory in a historic election with a record number of Conservative Cabinet members losing their seats.
Starmer heralded his success by saying the UK is experiencing the “sunlight of hope” at a victory rally in central London.
Speaking on GB News, Eamonn branded Starmer “deadly dull” as he grilled Glasman over how he is likely to be received by the British public as prime minister.

Asked what the Labour government will be like under Starmer, Glasman said: “I never considered Tony Blair to be a Labour leader, it was kind of revolting.
“I think Keir is different. We understand globalisation is over and he wants to explore the possibilities of Brexit.

Eamonn responded: “That’s an admirable direction, but the man is deadly dull.”
The Labour peer responded by drawing parallels to Clement Attlee, the Labour prime minister from 1945-1951 who is celebrated by many within the party as the man who introduced the NHS.
“Clement Attlee was the most boring man you could ever meet”, he said.

“He nationalised steel, railways and he was a total dullard. Howard Wilson wasn’t exactly a delight in that way.
“Blair was very presidential, Starmer is going to be a prime minister. We’re going to see a Cabinet and arguments over direction, that will be a very traditional form of a Labour government.”
Speaking at his rally in London, a delighted Starmer told activists “we did it”, adding: “Change begins now.”
He said: “We did it. You campaigned for it, you fought for it, you voted for it, and now it has arrived – change begins now.
“It feels good, I have to be honest. Four-and-a-half years of work changing the party, this is what it is for – a changed Labour Party ready to serve our country, ready to restore Britain to the service of working people.
“And across our country, people will be waking up to the news, relief that a weight has been lifted, a burden finally removed from the shoulders of this great nation.
“And now we can look forward, walk into the morning, the sunlight of hope, pale at first but getting stronger through the day, shining once again, on a country with the opportunity after 14 years to get its future back.”
