Erik ten Hag cut Bruno Fernandes’ Sky Sports interview short after the midfielder dropped a major clue about his Manchester United future.

The Portuguese playmaker’s future has been put into doubt over the last few days. Bayern Munich have been linked with a swoop for his services, while his countryman Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly keen to link up with him at Al-Nassr.

Fernandes has just two years left on his contract at Old Trafford. Asked if he will be staying as a Red Devil, the 29-year-old confirmed he will remain so long as the club wants him.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “I will be. The club needs to want me. The club wants me to be a part of the future. As I said always, I don’t want to be a player that the club doesn’t want to have. If for some reason, they don’t want to have me, I will go. But if they want me, I will stay.”

Fernandes’ interview did not last much longer as he was dragged away by manager Ten Hag. The Dutchman was keen to say a few words to the crowd following Man United’s final home game of the campaign – a 3-2 win against Newcastle.

Fernandes had performed excellently in the victory against the Magpies. Before being dragged away by his boss, he was asked if he had a point to prove in the game following a rotten season for the side.

He replied: “It doesn’t exist, a captain’s performance, just a team performance. A player has to do the best for the team and I’m not different than anyone because I have the armband.
