Eagle-Eyed Wrexham Fan Spots Star Player in Deadpool & Wolverine Trailer

The latest Deadpool & Wolverine trailer has sparked rampant fan speculation about returning X-Men characters, the fate of its main characters, and even links to the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe. But one eagle-eyed viewer has spotted what looks like the most obscure cameo yet.

X / Twitter user @beardywxm took a snap shot of the trailer’s opening scene in which Deadpool attempts to convince a washed up Wolverine to help him on his mission to save the world. And it’s in the background of this shot that Wrexham striker Ollie Palmer appears to be loitering.

Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds co-owns Wrexham AFC, and stars in the documentary series Welcome to Wrexham. It looks a lot like Reynolds managed to squeeze Palmer into the upcoming Marvel movie, although you’d be forgiven for missing the cameo. Palmer himself confirmed the sighting in an Instagram response to Reynolds’ post about the trailer, saying: “If you squint…” Reynolds later replied on X /Twitter “keen eyesight” to a fan who asked if it was him, confirming Palmer’s moment in the sun.

There’s a lot more going on in the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer. Reynolds himself has said a bizarre trailer coincidence was unplanned. Elsewhere, we’re wondering, is Hugh Jackman’s Logan the MCU’s new Loki?

Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on July 26, 2024. Be sure to check out our reaction to Deadpool & Wolverine’s nine-minute Cinemacon footage where Deadpool tells Fox to “suck it” as well as our roundup of fan theories from the new trailer.
