Droylsden Road crash as road gets blocked with no trams running after ‘serious’ incident

A road was blocked following a serious crash today.

The crash, described as ‘serious’, happened on the A662 Droylsden Road, in Audenshaw. The road was partially blocked in both directions following the incident around Kershaw Lane before midday.




Inrix says: “A662 Droylsden Road in both directions partially blocked, slow traffic due to accident around Kershaw Lane.”


Travel services said that there were diversions in place with drivers warned to avoid the area. Trams were also affected, Metrolink said.

The road reopened by 1.30pm with trams back to normal.

GMP have been contacted for information.

Buses diverted

Bus services on the 7 and 216 routes are being diverted. Stagecoach Manchester says this is due to a road traffic collision.

Slow traffic

There is slow traffic around Kershaw Lane due to the accident, according to traffic monitoring service INRIX. The A662 Droylsden Road is partially blocked in both directions.

No trams running

There are curently no tram services running between Ashton and Droylsden due to the accident. Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has said that Metrolink tickets will be acepted on some bus services, but these will be diverted.
