Drivers have been warned that the M25 is set to shut in August as it undergoes major improvements, which could cause havoc for people trying to go on holiday.
The major motorway, which circles London, will be closed between junctions eight and nine as work continues on the £317million project.
Roadworks will reportedly take place during the “peak holiday season”, according to Senior Project Manager Jonathan Wade from National Highways.
It is expected to be the third of five scheduled weekend closures National Highways has planned over the next 12 months.

The latest M25 closure, however, will take place this weekend to allow a concrete beamfor a new bridge to be installed. Following this, a new gantry will be put in place.
Speaking earlier this week, Wade told the Telegraph: “The next one is scheduled for August.
“That’s still to be confirmed, but at the moment it’s been planned for August. At that time, you’re obviously into peak holiday season.”
A spokesperson for National Highways added: “Any future closure dates are yet to be confirmed and any that are announced are subject to change.”
The planned updates to the M25 aim to restore heathland and upgrade the junctions to help reduce congestion and improve safety for drivers.
As a part of the third planned closure, there will be a 19-mile diversion for drivers.
Wade explained: “Drivers listened to our advice last time which reduced motorway traffic levels by over two-thirds and meant delays were limited.”
Although not officially confirmed, National Highways said it will announce more details closer to August.
However, as part of the closures in May, drivers were warned of the impact this could have had on travel to and from London airports.
A spokesperson for Gatwick Airport told GB News: “Passengers driving to the airport are advised to check diversion routes before they travel and allow extra time for potential delays.
“Gatwick’s train station is well connected and is a great alternative option for people travelling to the airport this weekend.”
Motorists were also urged to stick to official diversion routes, rather than looking for quieter and quicker routes elsewhere, as this would lead to further traffic elsewhere.
