Dog attack in Sutton Park leaves cockapoo owner ‘in tears’ with dislocated shoulder

A dog attack at a Birmingham beauty spot left a pet owner with injuries and in tears as the owner of two Staffie-type dogs ‘left the scene’. The alleged attack took place in Sutton Park on Thursday afternoon near to the Banners Gate car park.

Theresa Fisher from Kingstanding ha been walking her two cockapoos, Piper and Phoebe, in the Sutton Coldfield park and was returning to the car park. She said she was walking through the woods near Banners Gate at around 1.30pm when two black Staffie-type dogs approached her.




One of the dogs is said to have ‘jumped’ on Piper, the younger of Theresa’s dogs, pinned her pet to the floor and mauled her. Frantically, Theresa, tried to grab the black Staffie off her dog, injuring her shoulder in the process.

The 73-year-old told BirminghamLive: “I was fighting to get the dogs off and dislocated my shoulder as I did so. I was on the floor. My adrenaline was going.

“The next thing I know the bloke who owns the dogs was there, grabbed the dogs put them on a lead. I said ‘oh my shoulder’.

“I couldn’t move my arm. I was in so much pain. The man said ‘calm down, calm down’. He walked off and went to a small white van with ladders on top and left me.

“I then met a lovely lady, Sarah. She said ‘I heard he commotion, it was horrendous’ and she took me and my dogs to the vets. Where Piper had emergency treatment and injections which cost £208.”
