A woman who has been diagnosed with nymphomania has shared what it’s like to have the condition.

Nymphomania is an uncontrollable or excessive sexual desire, and is sometimes referred to as hypersexual behavior.

At one stage, hypersexuality was thought to affect three to 10 percent of the general US population.

With the condition being reasonably rare, one woman who has been diagnosed as a nymphomaniac took to Reddit to open the floor to people who might have questions about it.

In the post shared earlier this month, the woman revealed that she’d been diagnosed with the disorder last year.

She’s since begun therapy and set boundaries for herself, which she’s been trying to live by for the past six months.

The 25-year-old proceeded to let people ask her questions, with one fellow Reddit user using the opportunity to do so.

Asked about the ‘boundaries’ she’d created for herself, the diagnosed nymphomanic said: “The boundaries include setting up a defined time for masturbation and only doing so at home, only having sex after I’ve taken a period to contemplate it’s possible effects on my life, ideally only within a romantic relationship, quitting porn completely, realizing what causes my sexual urges as they often are caused due to other mental issues I’m going through and instead rewarding it by acting on said urges, to focus on the cause (anxiety, depression, insecurities, stress, etc).”

She also shared that at one point in her life, she was having sex several times a week, as well as masturbating a few times a day.

“For the most part it was at least 4-5 times a day,” the woman said of her previous masturbation habits.

“I would do it as soon as I wake up (sometimes I’d start in my sleep even) and would often end up being late for work because I just kept going.”

She even found herself doing it on the way to work or even at work.

The 25-year-old added that ‘an hour doesn’t go by’ without her thinking about sex.

Someone else queried when she thought something might not be quite right with her strong sexual urges, and she said she realized ‘something was off’ around the age of 22 or 23.

“I never saw sex as an addiction until my therapist pointed it out, then it was extremely obvious,” she shared.
