Coronation Street’s Tina O’Brien responds to “unprovoked incident” reports

Coronation Street actress Tina O’Brien has responded to reports that she was involved in an altercation outside her home.

In a video obtained by The Sun, a woman believed to be O’Brien can be seen involved in a scuffle with multiple girls outside of her home in a suburb of Greater Manchester.

It has not been confirmed what caused the altercation but, in the video, O’Brien appears to be grappling with one of the girls, before getting her hair pulled by another.

O’Brien’s representative has since issued a statement saying: “Tina was the victim of an unprovoked incident outside her home which she has reported to the police.”

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police added: “Officers are investigating reports of an assault in Stockport between 8pm and 9pm on 15 March.”

The actress has yet to personally address allegations of an “unprovoked incident” on her social media.

O’Brien is best known for playing the character of Sarah Barlow on ITV soap Coronation Street, joining the cobbles at age 16 in 1999 until 2008. The role earned her Most Popular Newcomer at the 2000 National Television Awards, as well as several nominations for Best Actress.

She later returned to the show in 2015 and has been involved in multiple high-profile storylines, with her character most recently being involved in a love triangle with Damon Hay and Adam Barlow.

During her break from the soap, O’Brien appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2010 as well as featuring in Waterloo Road as Bex Fisher from 2010 to 2011. Other notable credits include appearing in Casualty and Doctors, as well as the BBC Two miniseries The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
