Wham! is back leading the race
Wham! with Last Christmas is the bookies favourite to bag the Christmas Number One.
The song has never hit top spot before, so it would be a first.
The festive favourite was released in 1984, and was originally beaten to Number One by Band Aid’s Do They Know It’s Christmas Time.
George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley’s catchy classic is now 1/4 with BoyleSports.

Could Doctor Who take home the Christmas number one?
It’s unlikely now, but a week ago it seemed like a song set to feature in this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special could grab the number one spot.
The Goblin Song, which in typical Doctor Who style, is about little green goblins eating babies, shot up the charts following its release last week.
After its runaway success, the song’s fictional singer ‘Janis Goblin’ released a statement on Twitter.
She said: “Dear foolish humans. I’d like to thank you, with all the bile in my heart.
“I’m told all proceeds from the sale of The Goblin Song will go to Children in Need. Which means, more children for us to eat!
“That’s very kind, I must say…what’s that? It’s not? They don’t? Hmph. Then what do I say…? Ahem.
“Dear foolish humans, if you continue to support The Goblin Song, then I absolutely promise not to eat…oh to hell with that, pass me those twins. MUNCH!”
While the Goblin Song was in the running following its release, it has since dropped out of the race to be Christmas Number One.
Wham! a ‘banker’ for Christmas number one, bookies say
William Hill has suspended betting on this year’s Christmas number one, with Wham! set to take home the prize.
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Wham! have come close a few times to topping the Christmas Charts throughout the years with their iconic Last Christmas single, but this looks like a banker now.
“We’ve suspended betting on them being Xmas No.1 this year having previously taken plenty of bets all the way down to odds of 1/6, with George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley seemingly defying this month’s Whamageddon.
“There have been twists and turns in the betting in this year’s festive chart-topper, with The Pogues strong favourites during the early parts of December, but the momentum behind Wham! has snowballed in the past 10 days and we think it’s as good as locked in.”
